Akwa United’s head coach, Baba Ganaru, has emphasized the increasing difficulty of securing victories in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) as the season reaches its critical stages. Ahead of their Sunday clash with Sunshine Stars, Ganaru noted the heightened competition and stakes, particularly for teams fighting to avoid relegation.
“We are still on course. There are no pushovers, especially at this time of the season as the table has taken shape,” Ganaru remarked, highlighting the intense battles across the league. “We have three groups: those striving for the title, those stabilizing their status, and those battling to avoid relegation.”
Ganaru acknowledged the challenging nature of their upcoming game against Sunshine Stars, who are also desperate to secure points to ensure their league survival. “Every match is crucial, and we take each one as it comes. Nobody expected us to win in Plateau or Lobi, but we did. We are ready for the match in Akure,” he stated confidently.
The coach stressed that his team would approach each game with a mindset to perform and achieve positive results. “It’s not going to be an easy match because Sunshine Stars are also struggling to escape relegation. We must stay focused and build up to possibly secure something there,” Ganaru concluded.
As Akwa United gears up for their encounter with Sunshine Stars, the NPFL season’s endgame promises intense competition, with every point crucial for teams’ aspirations, whether for titles or survival.
