Nottingham Forest’s manager, Nuno Espirito Santo, has confirmed that striker Taiwo Awoniyi will face another period on the sidelines due to a recent injury setback.
Awoniyi had only recently returned to action in February after being sidelined for approximately three months due to a groin injury. Unfortunately, the forward was absent during Forest’s recent 1-1 draw against Luton Town before the international break.
Speaking about Awoniyi’s injury, Santo expressed his disappointment and emphasized the importance of the Nigerian striker to the team.
He was quoted by NottinghamshireLive saying, “Losing Taiwo to injury again is a significant setback for us. He had just returned from his previous injury, and his presence on the field adds a valuable dimension to our team.”
While the exact duration of Awoniyi’s latest injury layoff remains uncertain, Santo remains optimistic about seeing the forward back in action before the end of the season.
He added, “I can’t provide an exact timeline for his return, but I’m hopeful we’ll see him back on the pitch before the season concludes. Unfortunately, he will be unavailable for the upcoming two matches.”
This season, the 26-year-old has been a key player for Nottingham Forest, registering six goals in 17 league appearances.
