Enyimba International head coach Usman Abd’allah has called on the League Management Company to check the activities of referees in the league after a goal was allegedly disallowed in his team’s goalless draw against Bendel Insurance in a rescheduled Nigeria Professional Football league match on Sunday.
Insurance has struggled in front of the home fans with several home draws and was unable to take their chances against the seven-time league champions.
Reacting to the match Abd’allah stated that his boys gave their all against a well-determined host. “The boys fought very well. I knew it was going to be a difficult game and that is how it has been all through the season. It was a good fight between both teams.”
The coach also stated that he is bitter about a good goal scored by his team that was incorrectly ruled out. “We got a good goal and the referee incorrectly ruled it out and I don’t know why. That is the only thing I’m bitter about and something needs to be done about the referees.”
The Enyimba gaffer has stated that Insurance has all what it takes to make it out of the relegation zone as he believes they are better than the team he saw during the NNL promotion playoffs. “Insurance is far better than the last time I saw them which was in Aba during the NNL Super Eight. They can go a long way if they continue with the fighting spirit.”
Enyimba is currently second on the group a table with 15 points after 10 games and three points behind leaders MFM FC despite the fact that the Lagos based club has played two games less. Insurance is at the moment in the relegation zone. They sit 9th on the table with nine points after nine games.
