The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has expressed its support for Doma United following their involvement in a road accident. NPFL chairman, Gbenga Elegbeleye, extended his sympathies to Doma United chairman, Suleiman Umar, and the entire team, emphasizing relief that no lives were lost during the incident.

The accident occurred while the team was returning from Owerri, with their bus skidding off the road along the Makurdi-Lafia route amid heavy rain on Monday.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Doma United and the contingent at this very difficult time,” Elegbeleye said during a conversation with the club chief. “On behalf of the NPFL Board and Management, I wish the injured persons a speedy and full recovery, with the hope that they would return to action soon.”

Elegbeleye expressed relief that there were no fatalities, adding, “We are particularly relieved that there was no loss of lives in the accident, and we pray for the safety of all other teams and their fans as we gradually roll up the season.”

The NPFL chairman’s remarks underscore the league’s commitment to the well-being and safety of its clubs and players, as well as the importance of supporting teams through difficult times.
