The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has penalized Gombe United with a three-point deduction and three goals for the unruly behavior of their fans during a recent match against Akwa United.
The club’s supporters assaulted match officials, leading to the severe sanctions. Alongside the points deduction, Gombe United faces a total fine of N3 million, including penalties for inadequate security provision, throwing objects onto the field, and compensatory payments to match officials.
Additionally, the Pantami Township Stadium, Gombe United’s home ground, will be closed to fans for the next three home games. The club has 48 hours to accept or appeal the sanctions as they fight to avoid relegation this season.
