The Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL has announced the rescheduling of the first-round matches in the 2024/2025 season.
In a circular sent to the clubs, the NPFL confirmed that the Week 1 fixtures have been moved to accommodate the Super Eagles’ Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON qualifying match against the Cheetahs of Benin Republic, scheduled for Saturday, September 7, 2024, at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
The circular states: “Following the CAF Nations Cup qualifying match between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the visiting Cheetahs of Benin Republic, fixed for Saturday, 7th September, 2024, in Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, kindly be informed that the remaining MatchDay 1 fixtures have been rearranged for the 8th and 9th of September, 2024.
The Super Eagles’ clash with Benin marks their first match in the AFCON 2025 qualifiers.
All NPFL matches will now be played on September 8th, except for the Lobi Stars vs. Akwa United match, which has been rescheduled for September 9th.
