Nwakali Declares Himself Ready For Senior Caps

Date:

FC Porto of Portugal summer arrvial, Kelechi Nwakali has declared himself ready for a regular run with the Super Eagles, starting with next month’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Seychelles.

Nwakali has played two games for Porto B this season and mixed reactions has trailed his performance, as he shows experience gained from previous loan deals at MVV Maastricht and VV Van Venlo of Holland.

Having dazzled and scored a wonder goal in an exhibition match for the Eagles’ B-squad against Atletico Madrid of Spain in Uyo, just before the World Cup, Nwakali believes he has what it takes to be successful in Nigeria’s senior national team.

During the match against Atleti at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo in May, Nwakali hit home a fantastic scorcher from 35 yards out, leaving respected goalkeeper, Jan Oblak stranded in goal and left mouths gaping over his potential.

The Golden Eaglets’ captain in winning a record extending fifth FIFA U17 World Cup for Nigeria at Chile 2015 said he is fully ready for a Super Eagles’ invitation for next month’s qualifier against Seychelles.

After moving this summer on loan to Porto from Arsenal, Nwakali has taken another step forward in his career and has now declared that he is ready to give his best in the Eagles.

Nwakali stressed: “Playing for the Super Eagles has always been my dream. I can say I have developed through the ranks.

“(I have made my mark) laying at both the U-17 and 20 levels and, if the coach feels I can add something to the senior team, then I will be glad to do so.

“Personally, I feel honoured to be considered worthy of a call up; it means a lot to me and I will continue to work hard on and off the pitch to make this dream a reality.”
