MVV Maastricht of Holland returnee, Kelechi Nwakali lost his first match back at the Dutch lower division side, but was able to put up a personal show that conveyed hope for a bright future ahead of him.
Nwakali made his second debut for the Dutch Eerste Divisie side on Friday, but he could not save them from losing 3-1 to De Graafschap.
Nwakali logged ninety minutes against De Graafschap and the last time he completed a league game was May 25, 2017 when he played the entirety of MVV’s goalless draw vs Roda JC in the play-offs.
The 19-year-old showed flashes of potential in MVVs’ loss and was cautioned seven minutes into the second half.
For the remainder of this season, the Golden Ball winner at the 2015 Fifa U17 World Cup will wear the number 40 jersey.
All this comes after Nwakali left his former base at VV Van Venlo last week, but his contract with Arsenal of England will run out on June 30, 2021.
MVV announced the loan signing of the youth international from Arsenal on Wednesday and he had only two training sessions with the club before he stepped out onto the pitch.
