Nwakali Stays Hopeful Over Arsenal Future

Date:

New arrival at FC Porto of Portugal, Kelechi Nwakali has disclosed that he is staying hopeful of enacting a glorious future at Arsenal, where he still has a running contract.

Though he has been loaned out severally by The Gunners, Nwakali, who has also starred in Holland with MVV Maastricht and VV Van Venlo, said he retinas confidence in his ability to finally star for the Emirates Stadium outfit in years to come.

Nwakali is refusing to be discouraged by another loan deal that takes him out of England, as the Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup Golden Eaglets’ winning captain said he hopes to make a return to Arsenal at the end of his loan spell in Oporto.

He cited his former coach in the Eaglets, Emmanuel Amuneke, a former player of Sporting Lisbon of Portugal and Barcelona of Spain, as one of the mentors who keeps giving him encouragement that he will one day make it big at Arsenal.

Incidentally, Nwakali, who was also named most valuable player at Chile 2015, is also knocking on the door of the Super Eagles, following his stunning goal against Atletico Madrid in an exhibition match played at Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo..

Though he is flaunting his international future as a huge asset that could help him seal a permanent stay at Emirates Stadium, it is the same factor that has motivated Porto to strongly consider holding him for the future.

Porto claimed that a purchase clause was inserted into the deal taking Nwakali to the club but the player says his priority is to play for Arsenal next year.

Nwakali stated: “Coach Amuneke once taught me that every chance you get, you should learn. So, that is it for me here at FC Porto.

“It is a good move for me. It’s the kind of improvement for me to keep developing and that will be until I get my work permit and have a chance to play in England.

“I came here to add to my knowledge. I’m a young footballer still growing and I hope to learn from players at the club.

“If Porto thought I had nothing to add, they wouldn’t have brought me to come to Portugal. So, I hope to get the chance and I believe I can do it; all I need is the chance.”
