The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF announced on Monday the suspension of two match officials involved in the ongoing Nigeria Women’s Football League, NWFL Championship in Calabar, Cross River State.

Referee Amamong Idongesit Anthony from Akwa Ibom and Assistant Referee Blessing Nwika from Rivers have been withdrawn from further participation in the NWFL Championship.

According to the NFF, the officiating by these referees was found to have compromised the integrity of refereeing, the Nigeria Women Football League, the championship, and the sport itself.

This decision, effective immediately, follows their conduct during Match Number 9, which featured Imo Striker Queens against Pelican Stars at the UJ Esuene Stadium on Sunday, September 1, 2024.

Consequently, both officials are also barred from all refereeing activities until further notice and have been instructed to vacate the refereeing camp immediately, as directed by the NWFL Championship coordinator.
