Former Rangers of Enugu, Enyimba of Aba and Kano Pillars striker, Christian Obiozor is back in Nigeria, following his botched efforts to seal a deal with Orlando Pirates of South Africa, footballlive.ng reports.
Rather than keep up his long-drawn yet unproductive quest for a deal in The Rainbow Nation, the former home-based Eagles attacker has opted to sign for Gombe United ahead of the coming season in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
Obiozor earlier left Nigeria for a deal at Orlando Pirates but it ended up stillborn, and the tall lanky striker is back to revive his career at Gombe United ahead of the new NPFL season.
The 22-year-old Obiozor, who hails from Emene, was initially meant to join compatriots James Okwuosa and Emmanuel Daniel at Orlando Stadium, in Kjell Jonevret’s The Buccaneers’ squad.
Obiozor was part of the Nigerian home-based team finished third at the 2014 Championship of African Nations (CHAN) in South Africa.
His 85th minute goal handed the Super Eagles victory against Zimbabwe in the third-place encounter, thereby winning bronze for late Stephen Keshi’s team.
