Youth national team, Flying Eagles former coach, John Obuh has warned the Super Eagles coaching crew and players to avoid giving Argentina any preferential focus ahead of the World Cup, as he believes the other two Group D teams, Iceland and Croatia, could spring surprises.
Obuh, who was until recently handler of Kwara United of Ilorin in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), reckoned that focusing mostly on Argentina would leave Nigeria vulnerable to shocks in their first two matches of Russia 2018.
With the Eagles billed to meet Croatia in their opening game on June 16 and then battle debuting Iceland on June 22, Obuh says equal focus should be given all group opponents, as they will not battle Argentina until June 26.
He said: “Nigeria should treat every game as equal. They must prepare for Croatia and Iceland in the same way they will do for the game they will be playing against Argentina.
“I cannot predict how far the Super Eagles will fair at the World Cup, but I urge them to know that their preparation should be according to equal respect for all teams they will meet, in order for them to get success.”
