Super Eagles central midfielder John Ogu has shrugged off the negative effect the absence of skipper John Obi Mikel could have on the team when they face the Pirates of Seychelles on Saturday.
The Eagles will face Seychelles in a Group E 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier at the Stade Linite.
“It’s always a huge blow if the captain of the team isn’t available for such a crucial match. We have players capable of filling the void,” the Hapoel Beer Sheva star told Footballlive.ng.
“The game against Seychelles is very important because we lost to South Africa in the opening match of the group.”
“We want to qualify for the 2019 AFCON and that means we must beat Seychelles on Saturday,” he concluded.
“I don’t know much about Seychelles. We are looking forward to the match. The fear of the unknown is what will spur us to victory.”
“No one is trying to underrate Seychelles. All we want on Saturday is a win,” he added.
