Head coach of Enugu Rangers, Gbenga Ogunbote has claimed he is delighted with the team’s 3-0 win over Kebbi United in a round 32 FA Cup encounter.
The former Enyimba gaffer guided his side to a ruthless victory over the Birni-Kebbi outfit, and has admitted the win gained was vital.
After throwing away some begging chances in the early part of the game, Ogunbote’s wards found their rhythm as youth prodigy Ugochukwu Ugwuoke broke the deadlock on 38 minutes after Bright Silas’ great run down the line created opening for him to finish.
Two minutes later, Ugochukwu grabbed his second of the day as he connected beautifully a well taken free kick by Chidera Ezeh which sailed past a diving Yusuf Yushau.
The third goal did not come until late into added time when Ezeh reacted the quickest to blast home a loose ball from the edge of the box.
“The result is a very important one for us,” Ogunbote told Footballlive.ng.
“I am very happy. The team worked hard and came out on top. The players’ deserved the win after all the work they put in.
“We had good moments, we created a lot of chances and defended very well.
“It’s a good win, and we’re on our way to where we want to be.
