Abia Warriors coach, Bethel Oji has expressed his happiness as his side qualified to the next round of the FA cup. Abia Warriors secured a 1-0 win over Sporting Supreme to book their place in the round of 16 of the competition.
The gaffer mentioned that the FA cup is always tough, irrespective of the opposition. He also revealed his tactical switch going into the second half of the encounter, which gave the team the edge over Sporting Supreme.
“Well, I’m happy, you know, it’s FA Cup. It’s always tough, not minding the team you are playing, whether you’re playing against a big team or a small team, it’s FA Cup. Anything comes and you take it the way it is. But thank God we’re able to do the job. Most times, some teams play in the first half. I got the dose of the team. After the first half, they fizzled out so quickly. So what I did was to keep the ball on the floor in the second half and pressurize them so they stay behind until we got the goal”.
The gaffer then thanked God for qualifying to the round of 16, and said that the team would take the games as they come.
“Thank God we are through to the round of 16. I believe we take each game as it comes. We’ll face the round of 16 the way it comes. Depending on the team we are playing, we have to change our formation or our mentality”.
