Liverpool of England winger, Sheyi Ojo has admitted he was truly delighted to get another chance last weekend to don the club’s jersey, several months after playing away on loan at Fulham last season.
Though it was only a pre-season match, Ojo said he was excited and delighted to be back wearing The Reds’ famous shirts, and is now hoping that his performance in the game against Chester would set him up for a better stint at Anfield.
Ojo is delighted to have starred again for the Merseyside Reds as they kicked off their pre-season campaign with a resounding 7-0 victory over Chester at Lookers Vauxhall Stadium on Saturday evening.
Two goals apiece from Harry Wilson and Daniel Sturridge alongside further strikes from Ryan Kent, James Milner and Danny Ings did well to ensure Jurgen Klopp’s side picked apart their unfortunate opponents in hapless fashion.
The 21-year old winger went on for the second 45 minutes of the game, in which fellow-Nigerian-born striker, Dominic Solanke starred from the first half.
Ojo will now be looking to force himself in to first team consideration from there on and add to his tally of 13 senior appearances in all competitions for the Anfield outfit.
The 2017 FIFA U20 World Cup winner with England’s youth national team spent time with Fulham in the Championship last season where he made 24 competitive outings, with four goals.
Liverpool are back in action on Tuesday, when they tackle Tranmere Rovers in another pre-season game and, while Ojo will love to make another impact, he is still relishing Saturday’s outing, as he stated: ”Felt good to have the @LFC kit on. #SO54.”
