Former Akwa United of Uyo striker, Okechukwu Gabriel has admitted that he was not surprised to see Raja Casablanca of Morocco beat Enyimba of Aba in the CAF Confederation Cup, as the CHAN 2018 revelation says the North African club have very high quality.
Okechukwu, who excelled with the home-based Eagles at this year’s Championship of African Nations in the same country, where he now plays for Raja’s city rivals, Wydad Casablanca said no one should mock Enyimba for losing at home, as they faced a top-notch opponent.
After visiting Enyimba’s camp in Casablanca with Wydad teammate and fellow-Nigerian, Michael Babatunde, Okechukwu said they went there to lend support for The Peoples’ Elephant against Raja.
Okechukwu said he was hoping that Enyimba would be able to turn around the tide of their semi-final fixture, as the Nigerian in him desired them to win, while the rivalry between his club and Raja is very fierce.
The lanky attacker disclosed: “It’s a local derby and always very tough, like Plateau United against Mighty Jets in Jos.”
