Wydad Casablanca of Morocco striker, Okechukwu Gabriel has backed his club to beat ES Setif of Algeria in their CAF Champions League knockout fixture on Friday, as he expects his team to bounce back from a recent defeat in the domestic scene.
Although Gabriel will not play the match, as he is cup-tied due to his appearance in the same competition this year with his former club, Akwa United of Uyo, the CHAN 2018 revelation says his side will do well without him.
Gabriel is rooting for Wydad to make hay on the continent, after the club gave his debut at the weekend, and he featured for 90 minutes of their 2-1 loss away to Olympic Safi.
He twinkled alongside former Super Eagles midfielder, Babatunde Michael in the clash and was heavily involved in the move that earned Wydad a stoppage-time penalty.
Despite the defeat, Gabriel said he was satisfied with his performance and believes his side will bounce back against Setif in the CAF Champions League quarter-finals first leg.
“It was a good game for me; the fans were impressed with our display, but unfortunately we lost the match. Hopefully, we will bounce back in our next game,” Gabriel enthused.
