Arsenal of England emergent goalkeeper, Arthur Okonkwo has snubbed offers from Celtic of Scotland and RB Leipzig of Germany in order to sign a new deal with The Gunners into next season.
Okonkwo will now continue with the London club’s youth team, after he sensationally rejected the offer to move abroad by signing a scholarship deal with the club.
Had Okonkwo not penned a new contract with the Emirates outfit, he would have walked away from the club as a free agent this summer.
The 16-year-old ended speculation about his future after penning a new deal and committed his future to The Gunners in a scholarship contract.
Okonkwo was highly admired by ex-Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger and the goalkeeper trainers last season, and trained with the first team ahead of matches against Doncaster Rovers in the League Cup and West Ham United in the English Premier League.
Next season, he will compete with Estonian starlet, Karl Jakob Hein as well as Daniel Barden and Tom Smith for the Arsenal U18 keeper’s position.
