New arrival at AS Torino of Italy, Ola Aina has got straight down to business with the Serie A club, as the lad on loan from Chelsea of England started training actively with his latest teammates on Tuesday.
Aina joined his new colleagues at the training ground of Stadio Filadelfia, only few hours after his official unveiling by the former club of Joel Chukwuma Obi, as he hit the ground running in a bid to convince Torino to buy him outright from Chelsea with eight million euro at the end of his initial loan spell with the Turin-based side.
It was barely 24 hours after Aina landed in Italy to join the Turin based side on a season-long loan deal with an option of remaining in Italy on a permanent basis for €8m at the end of the loan duration.
Born in London, Aina is a product of Chelsea’s academy and was part of the main team when they won the English Premier League in the 2016/17 season under Antonio Conte.
He spent the last football season on loan at English Championship side Hull City where he made forty-four (44) appearances for the Tigers.
Aina will go into Walter Mazzarri’s squad at the start of the new season this weekend, when Torino host AS Roma in their opening Serie A game on Sunday.
The 21-year old, who narrowly missed out on Nigeria’s team to the World Cup in Russia, is now looking at the opportunity of cementing a spot in the Super Eagles with his move to Italy.
“Torino have been following me for some time so I hope to do well here. I know this is a club that believes in young players and this is very important to me.
“I know that I can learn a lot in Italy especially in the ability to be in the field, because tactics and organizational play are essential here,” said Aina, who has five senior caps with Nigeria, after representing England at youth level.
