Chelsea returnee, Ola Aina was back in action for English Premier League club on Friday, as the lad who spent last season on loan at Hull City begins the process of trying to convince The Blues’ new boss, Maurizio Sarri that he deserves a place in the main squad this season.
Aina’s hope of gaining relevance at Chelsea was not helped by his inability to make Nigeria’s final squad to Russia 2018 World Cup, but he appears to have put that behind him and made the best of his outing in The Blues’ first match of pre-season under their new manager.
The former England youth international played a key role in ensuring that Chelsea beat National League side, Aldershot Town 4-2 in the friendly that was played behind closed doors.
However, it was Nigerian-born striker, Ike Ugbo who stole the show, with a brace of goals, adding to one each from Todd Kane and JeremieBoga, for the Chelsea squad, made up mostly of players returning from loan deals to star against the fifth-tier side.
While Aina was loaned to Hull City in the English Championship for the entirety of last season, Ugbo had two different spells with Barnsley and Milton Keynes Dons.
