Victor Olatunji continued his fine goal scoring form as Sparta Praha claimed victory in the second leg against Shamrock Rovers, as the Czech side seek to qualify for the group stages of the UEFA Champions league. Olatunji has now scored three goals in his first four appearances this season.
Praha came into the second leg with a 2-0 advantage from the first leg, and were determined to put the tie to bed in the second leg, at the epet ARENA in Prague.
Olatunji scored the opening in a 6-goal thriller that saw Sparta claim a 4-2 victory, winning 6-2 on aggregate. The Nigerian opened the scoring in the 29th minute, converting Imanol Garcia de Albéniz’s assist.
Aaron Greene leveled the scoring, assisted by Dylan Watts in the 32nd minute. Mathias Rose restored Sparta’s lead in the 41st minute, giving them the lead at the interval.
Aaron Greene doubled his tally and his team’s, by scoring again, assisted by Joshua Honohan in the 47th minute. Asger Sørensen gave Sparta the lead for the third time in the game just a minute after, courtesy of a Krystof Daněk.
Olatunji was subbed out in the 69th minute alongside Krstof Daněk, they were replaced by Jan Kuchta and Indrit Tuci. Tuci scored the final goal of the game in the 70th minute, assisted by Ermal Kraniqi.
Sparta are now through to the next round of qualifiers, and await their next opposition. They return to league action this weekend, as they will take on Dukla Praha.
