Super Eagles defender, Olisa Ndah captained Orlando Pirates to a hard-fought 2-1 win over Chippa United, who had Nigerian goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali in goal, in their South African Premier League opener at Orlando Stadium.
Ndah, commanding from the back for the Pirates, registered two blocked shots and gave 95% pass accuracy.
Orlando Pirates fought back after Chippa United’s early lead.
Stanley Nwabali, Chippa United’s shot-stopper, was unfortunately on the losing side. He made five saves, including four from inside the box, and was the best performer for his team, keeping them in the game for long stretches.
Chippa United opened the scoring in the 22nd minute through Abdile Jali, giving them an early lead. However, Orlando Pirates equalized in stoppage time of the first half when Tshegofatso Mabasa won and converted a penalty.
In the second half, Monnapule Saleng found the back of the net, securing the victory for Olisa Ndah and the Pirates in the last minutes of the game.
