Omeruo Declares: Eagles Will Work Extra Hard

Date:

Chelsea of England returnee, Kenneth Omeruo has revealed that he and his colleagues in the Super Eagles are determined to work extra hard in order to pull off historic shocks at this year’s World Cup in Russia.

Omeruo, who was on loan at Kasimpasa of Turkey this season, disclosed that all the Nigerian players will work their socks off during the tournament in Russia, as they will not rule out the possibility of winning the cup.

Omeruo, who joined a select group of Nigerian players to have represented the country in the FIFA U17 and U20 World Cups, Confederations Cup and World Cup when he went the distance against Iran at Brazil 2014, said he is looking further at Russia 2018.

The former Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles star added that he prefers playing in the World Cup to the Champions League.

Omeruo, who will compete with Leon Balogun, William Troost-Ekong, Chidozie Awaziem, Brian Idowu and John Ogu for the central defensive positions at the World Cup, said all the players will go the extra mile to get glory for Nigeria.

”We will be been working hard, taking every game as it comes and hopefully our hard work will see us through to the final or to do something that no African country has done.

”Yes, we can win the World Cup. I think we have never gone past the round of sixteen, this time we are not going to say let us go to the round of sixteen,” Omeruo declared‏.
