Trabzonspor of Turkey midfielder, Eddy Ogenyi Onazi has finally opted to stick with the Turkish Super Lig club into the new season, despite mouth-watering offers coming from some top clubs across Europe.
One of the juicy offers was from Spartak Moscow of Russia, but Onazi is staying put in the Turkish city of Trabzon, as the club has stepped up their efforts at paying him lump sums of the money they owe him.
With a different kind of windfall rolling into his bank account, due to several wages that are being paid up in droves, Onazi appears to have considered financial angles in opting out of the chance to join Emmanuel Emenike’s former club in Russia.
A source close to Onazi admitted that the former SS Lazio of Italy lad was on the verge of a Trabzonspor exit over the financial state of the club, which led to them oing him several debts, and he was bound to jump at Spartak’s offer.
However, the same source confirmed that Onazi is now staying put, after receiving solid assurances from Trabzonspor over improvements in their finances for the coming season.
The credible source affirmed: “Trabzonspor have even started paying what they owe him. That was reason he decided not to move to Spartak Moscow.
“We spoke last week and he told me they have paid him some and that they have assured him their finances would be okay this coming season.”
