Trabzonspor of Turkey midfielder, Eddy Ogenyi Onazi has been fingered as the bait to lure his Super Eagles’ teammate, Kenneth Omeruo over to join him at the Turkish Super Lig club.
Both players have been palls since their days together in the silver-winning Golden Eaglets’ squad of Nigeria 2009 FIFA U17 World Cup, and Trabzonspor are now banking on Onazi to convince him in joining them, rather than seek a permanent deal at Chelsea.
Dramatically, as Trabzonspor pull all stops in their attempt to convince Omeruo to join them this summer, Chelsea have reportedly welcomed their loan offer for the defender.
Onazi has also been tasked with convincing Omeruo to make the switch to The Black Sea Storm, as Trabzonspor are in the hunt for new defenders after parting with three centre-backs in the past month.
Omeruo is yet to make a single appearance for Chelsea despite joining the London-based club in 2012, as he has been loaned to Standard Liege of Belgium, ADO Den Haag of Holland, Middlesbrough of England and Alayanspor over the past seasons.
The versatile defender also spent two separate seasons on loan at Kasimpasa, which he opted to leave last month, with high hopes of finally settling down at Stamford Bridge.
