Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor have announced that their Nigerian midfielder Onazi Ogenyi will undergo Surgery on Monday for a ruptured Achilles.
Onazi sustained the injury during Sunday’s League match against Rizespor at the Şenol Güneş Stadium.
The midfielder was stretched off the pitch with just 32 minutes played in the encounter.
In a post on its official website, Trabzonspor explained that:
Çaykur Rizespor injured our football player Ogenyi Onazi’s MRI as a result of MRI was diagnosed with Achilles Rupture (rupture). Her surgery is planned for tomorrow in Istanbul.
The Nigeria international could be out for 5 months, scuttling any chance of him adding another Africa Cup of Nations title to his collection; at the 32nd edition of the tournament next year.
