Trabzonspor of Turkey midfielder, Eddy Ogenyi Onazi has declared that the Super Eagles will have to hold unto full concentration till the final whistle of Tuesday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya, in order to avoid being caught unawares by their hosts.
Though the game is billed for neutral territory in Sfax, Tunisia, Onazi acknowledged that it is still a home game for Libya, hence his verdict that The Mediterranean Knights might still want to exploit some tricks to give themselves an advantage.
Onazi, who will not play the game due to a relapse of an injury he has been nursing at his club, said the Eagles will do everything they can to qualify for the 2019 AFCON, but urged soccer fans to support the team.
While confessing that he feels bad not being able to play both home and away against the Libyans, Onazi said he is happy that there are other good players in the Eagles to eke out victory, but warned that they will face a crunch game and must put in more physical effort in Sfax.
Onazi also admitted that he actually arrived at the Eagles’ camp in Uyo last Tuesday nursing an injury, which he aggravated on his second day of training with the team.
He said: ”It’s quite sad for me. I have been playing with some pains in my Achilles, I have had some pain killers to try to make it not to affect me. I just need to rest to avoid surgery.
”We have young players who are doing good in their clubs, we have fast players as well, from the wing, from the attack, in midfield.
“We have strong physical players. We have everything it takes, it is just for us to concentrate and put at the back of our mind how important it is for us and Nigeria. ”
