Onyedika Delivers Midfield Shift in Club Brugge Win

In a thrilling encounter at the Cegeka Arena, Club Brugge delivered a commanding performance to secure a resounding 3-0 victory over Genk in the Belgian championship round.

 

The first breakthrough came in the 38th minute when Kyroani Sabbe found the back of the net to give Club Brugge the lead. Sabbe capitalized on a well-crafted assist from Igor Thiago, demonstrating clinical finishing to put his side ahead.

 

Club Brugge extended their advantage in the second half, with Hugo Vetlesen doubling the lead in the 67th minute. Vetlesen seized the opportunity presented to him, converting a precise pass from Sabbe to increase Club Brugge’s lead and put them in a commanding position.

 

Not content with a two-goal cushion, Club Brugge continued to press forward and added a third goal in the 71st minute. This time, it was Igor Thiago who found the back of the net, capitalizing on an assist from Vetlesen to further solidify his team’s dominance.

 

Nigeria’s Raphael Onyedika was involved for 85 minutes. The 23 year old pinged 4 of his 5 long balls accurately, won 3 of his contested 5 ground duels and had his only shot attempt blocked in the 70th minute.

 

The comprehensive victory sees Club Brugge maintain their position at the top of the Belgian championship round table, with 42 points to their name. Meanwhile, Genk, despite their best efforts, find themselves in third place with 41 points, as they continue to chase the leaders in the fiercely contested title race.
