Brentford held Chelsea to a 2-2 draw at the Gtech Community Stadium in a London derby special. A game that had it all as Brentford rose to 15th courtesy of the point gained.
The first half saw the visitors control a lot of the proceedings with 71% of the possession falling to the blues. Nicolas Jackson fired his header past Mark Flekken in the 35th minute to put Chelsea ahead. The halftime break came soon enough as Thomas Frank’s men went into the interval 1 goal down.
The second half was a different storyline entirely as Brentford sparked into life. Just 5 minutes into the second period, Mads Roerslev sent the home crowd wild as he equalized for Brentford.
Brentford had just 36% possession in the second half, but it served its purpose as the home team took the lead in the 69th minute. Frank Onyeka’s touch was met by a spectacular overhead kick from Yoanne Wissa to put Brentford ahead.
Chelsea did not go down without a fight and they equalized in the 83rd minute, courtesy of a header from Axel Disasi who directed Cole Palmer’s cross beyond the goalkeeper.
Brentford now sit 15th on the log with 26 points from 27 games played, and they now travel to the Emirates to face Arsenal next weekend. Chelsea are 11th with 36 points from 26 games played, and they host Newcastle next.
