New arrival at Galatasaray of Turkey, Henry Onyekuru has admitted that one of his hopes for the coming season is that he does not have a repeat of the injury nightmare that effectively ended his stay with RSC Anderlecht of Belgium.
The former KAS Eupen of Belgium attacker started well with Anderlecht, getting into goals scoring form early in the campaign, until he was hit with a nasty injury in December.
That injury eventually caused a falling out between him and the Brussels-based side, plus a missed chance of going to the World Cup with Nigeria, such that praying for an injury free start with Galatasaray is surely not out of place.
Onyekuru has already started well with Galatasaray, for which he again shone brightly on Wednesday in a friendly against Sakaryaspor.
The Turkish Super Lig champions won the game 3-1 and Onyekuru, who is again on loan from Everton of England, assisted Mugdat Celik’s opening goal in the sixth minute.
Onyekuru said he was happy with his performance and the team’s victory, but wants to get more of such with the team, while also hoping to score many goals and win trophies during his spell with the Istanbul-based side.
“I am happy with the performance and victory. My targets are to score more goals, help my team win matches and win trophies. I also pray for injury free season,” Onyekuru said.
