Galatasaray of Turkey attacker, Henry Onyekuru has declared that he is targeting victory on his return to the Super Eagles, as he wants Nigeria to win away to Seychelles on Saturday.
Onyekuru noted that the match in Victoria is a must-win game for the Eagles, considering that they lost their opening game of the African Cup of Nations qualifiers at home against South Africa, and says Seychelles will be the scapegoats.
Onyekuru is also hoping to use Saturday’s match as consolation for his club’s 4-0 loss to Trabzonspor in the Turkish Super Lig last weekend, saying winning with Nigeria will help comfort him.
Onyekuru, though, said he has put behind Galatasaray’s drubbing on Saturday, in order to switch attention fully on Nigeria’s 2019 AFCON qualifiers away to Seychelles on Saturday.
Onyekuru last played for Nigeria in last year’s dead rubber World Cup qualifiers against Algeria and will most definitely be pushing for a start as he hopes to meet the required number of games to secure a work permit to play for Everton of England.
The former KAS Eupen and RSC Anderlecht of Belgium attacker, who was at the weekend on for 67 minutes, said he now wants to ensure the Eagles get back to winning ways.
“The game against Trabzonspor is behind me now; it’s one of those few bad days but I’m confident we will bounce back from it.
“For now, the focus is the national team ahead of our qualifiers and I’m super excited to be back with the team. I hope we can get back to winning ways,” Onyekuru submitted.
