Super Eagles stars Henry Onyekuru and Chidozie Awaziem both made substitute appearances for Galatasaray and FC Porto in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday with FC Porto getting the maximum three points in a hard fought 3 – 2 win in Turkey.
Onyekuru was substituted on in the 46th minute of the encounter for Ryan Donk while Awaziem made his way into the match with midfielder Sergio Oliveira being substituted in the 82nd minute.
Brazilian star Felipe opened the scoring for Porto in the 11th minute while Mousa Marega doubled the away team’s lead in the 42nd minute. Sofiane Feghouli put one back for the home side at the stroke of half time.
Porto resumed the second half with a goal from Sergio Oliveira in the 57th minute while Gala activated their comeback strategy when Eren Derdiyok reduced the deficit in the 65th minute, two minutes later in the 67th minute Feghouli missed a penalty as the host lost 3 – 2.
With the win, FC Porto tops the log with 15 points winning five games with one draw. Schalke 04 finished second and progress to the next round while Galatasaray finished third and has been relegated to the UEFA Europa league and Locomotive Moscow who pays the bills of Nigerian defender Brian Idowu finished bottom.
