Onyekuru’s Form Gives Everton Hope For Work Permit

Date:

Galatasaray of Turkey striker, Henry Onyekuru’s form in domestic and continental competitions has raised hope at his parent club, Everton of England, that they will be able to get a work permit for him this summer.

Footballlive.ng gathered that The Toffees are anxious to get Onyekuru into their squad, but have been forced to loan him twice due to work permit restrictions at the UK Home Office.

Onyekuru will need more appearances with the Super Eagles to get an automatic permit to play in England, or get a European passport, which forced the Merseyside outfit to first loan him to RSC Anderlecht of Belgium and new Galatasaray.

The Toffees did try to fast-track a stint in England for Onyekuru last summer, when he fell out with Anderlecht on account of a whiplash of reactions over an injury he copped early in the campaign, but all their efforts did not work out for the former KAS Eupen of Belgium star.

However, Everton chief executive, Marcel Brands is upbeat that the club will be able to have Onyekuru at Goodison Park this summer.
Onyekuru joined Everton in June, 2017 from Eupen in a deal worth over £7m, but has yet to play for The Toffees due to work permit difficulties.

Brands, though, is hopeful they will have a robust case to present to the Football Association in order to get the green light to to use a player by the start of next season in the English Premier League.

Although Brands admits he is yet to watch Onyekuru, who played in the Europa League against Benfica of Portugal on Thursday night, he is glad to trust in the verdict by members of his new-look scouting team.
