Former Nigeria U-17 International, Femi Opabunmi has suggested an intensive scouting exercise for the progress of local football going forward.
The former U-17 star suggested that there are local talents spread across the country and they can be maximized. He also compared the exercise to Arsenal under Arsene Wenger, saying that instead kf spending money on players excessively, local talents could be employed.
Opabunmi said:
“Yeah, I think we should be searching for talent. That’s the most important thing, you know, we should go back to our olden days when we look for talent. When we look for talent, you know, this talent is great, the talent will be great.”
“So, we’ll be selling them. When you talk about, let me talk about Arsenal, when Arsene Wenger is there, he always look for talents, small players. And at the end, they will be great, they will be big players. So I think we should go back to the drawing board. We start from grassroots. We discover talent, young talent that will make our country proud”.
