USA-based female soccer star, Francisca Ordega has promised to put in more effort for Nigeria’s female national tea, Super Falcons, and help them win the ongoing Africa Women Cup of Nation in Ghana.
Ordega said she was happy to score in Wednesday’s 5-0 trouncing of Zambia and to win the player of the match award, but added that the target for her is not personal at AWCON 2018.
Ordega was happy to net one of the goals, while Desire Oparanozie, Rasheedat Ajibade and Amarachi Okoronkwo also added one each to give Nigeria a 4-0 win in Cape Coast.
The Nigerian team entered the match on the downside of a shock 1-0 loss to South Africa, while Shepolopolo beat Equatorial Guinea 5-1 on the same day, but the odds were turned round when the Super Falcons went full throttle for a revival victory.
The 25-years-old forward provided the assist for the Falcons’ opening goal scored by Desire Oparanozie and netted the second, as Nigeria bounced back from defeat by South Africa in their opening group game.
Ordega then became the first Falcons’ player to pick the woman of the match award at the 2018 AWCON in Ghana and she celebrated her feat with ‘shaku-shaku’ dance steps in the dressing room.
The former Atlético Madrid Ladies of Spain star, who has 27 caps and seven goals for Nigeria, was part of the Falcons’ squads that won the AWCON titles in 2010 and 2014
Ordega took to social media to reveal her thoughts, and hinted that the Falcons will continue to play together as a united team, in order to soar high and remain strong, as they battle Equatorial Guinea in their last match, with the hope of securing a semifinal ticket in Ghana
Ordega, who had earlier declared that she wants to win a ninth AWCON title with the Falcons, posted: “Soar Super Falcons. Team 9ja Strong.”
