Following a 2-0 win at home against Bodrum FK on Sunday, Fenerbahce ended a three-game winless streak, but manager José Mourinho is concerned about his team’s finishing, particularly regarding Nigerian defender Bright Osayi-Samuel.
Although Osayi-Samuel played the full match, he was criticized for missing a crucial opportunity in the first half.
Instead of opting for a straightforward assist, he attempted a spectacular finish, failing to convert one of Fenerbahce’s four significant chances.
Mourinho felt that the team should have secured a more comfortable victory, given they registered 19 shots on goal throughout the match as reported by Kontraspor.
“I’m happy for the 3 points, but it was sad that we couldn’t create and capitalize on so many chances.”
”We scored a goal from a rebound. Irfan Can Kahveci’s volley was nice, and Osayi-Samuel had a position in the first half, but he was selfish there. We could have finished the match in the first half, but we couldn’t.”
With this win, Fenerbahce now sits in third place in the Super Lig, with 20 points from their first nine matches.
