Osho rues Gold Cup Tourney exit

Date:

Fatai Osho has expressed sadness after his Remo Stars failed to progress to the Gold Cup Pre-Season Tournament finals after they lost 3-2 on penalties to Sunshine Stars on Thursday after regulation time ended 1-1.

“I’m not too happy a coach as I would have loved to win the Gold Cup trophy which is still elusive to me. I feel having featured in every edition of the pre-season tournament, this was the best time I should have won it.

“Recall we didn’t register a point in the last edition in Ilorin so getting to the semi-final is a plus for me young team. Beside my players deserve all the accolades as its has been a tasking one week for my Sky Blue Stars.

“Its no child’s play for a team to play seven games in seven days, my players gave it their best shot but at the end Sunshine Stars were lucky to have won via penalties.”

Sugar, as Osho is fondly called stated further; “Bothms have gained a lot from this pre-season tourney as winning was not the fundamental but the ultimate was to prepare my team for the upcoming season.

“Kudos to the organisers of the Gold Cup Tourney as it has improved tremendously edition by edition. The quality and standard of play from participating teams is commendable.

“To other teams who are yet to take part in the Gold Cup Tourney, they are missing a lot as this is the best platform for any of such team to showcase its potentials ahead a new season kickoff.”
