China-based attacker, Asisat Oshoala has stated delight with the hat-trick she scored for the Super Falcons against Equatorial Guinea on Saturday, but says the most important thing for her is that she was able to make Nigerian fans happy.
Footballlive.ng reports that the former Liverpool and Arsenal Ladies of England star also said she cherished her player of the match award in Saturday’s last group match at the 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations in Ghana.
However, Oshoala stressed that she is thinking mostly of the team and how they can together make Nigerians proud.
Oshoala added that helping the Falcons to qualify for next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup and personal glory is not as important.
“It is a great feeling to get the full three points for the team, that’s the most important thing. The team victory, the team success is more important.
“This tournament is not about individual performance. The most important thing is to get the World Cup ticket.
“I have decided to be more of a team player, I care more about my team, I care more about my nation rather than personal glory or individual accolade.
“I am happy with myself and my team and I think Nigerians are happy, which is the most important thing here.”
