China-based female soccer star, Asisat Oshoala has disclosed that she is expecting about 5,000 students to benefit from her forthcoming School Girls Football Clinic at Campos Mini Stadium, Lagos Island.
The 2018 African Women’s Cup of Nations winner, who earlier hosted over 2,500 girls at Molade Okoya-Thomas Indoor Sports Hall of Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere last Friday, said the next programme will run from Monday, December 17th to Thursday, 20th December.
The technical director of FC BESCOLA Bernet Villa will lead coaches and officials to the three-day coaching clinic for aspiring women footballers, from which exceptional talents will stand a chance of playing in China or United Kingdom, with additional chances of furthering their education.
Oshoala further disclosed that the participants are drawn from different secondary schools in Lagos State, during which they will receive balls, boots, jerseys, bags, sports equipment and educational needs.
Footballlive.ng gathered that the project is endorsed by Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and Lagos State Football Association, supported by the General Overseer of Love of Christ Generation Church, United Kingdom, Reverend Esther Ajayi.
The three-time African Women Footballer of The Year aded that the project is a follow-up to her recent #Football4Girls Seminar on female pupils and students’ education and sports.
The seminar had some experts attending as speakers, including Wife of the Governor of Lagos State, Mrs. Bolanle Ambode, ably represented by Mrs Modupe Ogunleye.
Also present were Nigerian media entrepreneur, talk show host, speaker, TV presenter and philanthropist, Agatha Amata; Rev. Mother Esther Ajayi; President-General, Nigeria Football Supporters Club, Rafiu Ladipo and Lagos Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Dolapo Badmus.
Oshoala said: “It’s all about the girl child education and sports , that’s the motto of my foundation.
“It’s part of my plans to give back to the society which raised me to let everyone know that they can be their own star.
“For me I will tell every girl child, be yourself, make sure you make good friends, go out with right people.
“You should make good choices at every point in time and make sure you don’t do what will go against your ambition.”
