SC Kriens of Switzerland goalkeeper, Sebastian Osigwe has disclosed that he opted to don jersey number 8 this season in memory of his late mother.
The Nigerian-born shot stopper, who has indicated interest in playing for the Super Eagles, said he chose that jersey number in honour of his late mom, who was born in 1958.
The 24-year-old Osigwe, who was a member of the Nigerian under20 national team, Flying Eagles’ squad at the 2013 Toulon Tournament in France and debuted against Belgium, took to social media with a memorial of his mother, who died ten years ago.
He wrote: ”Ready for the season 18/19 Maa we made it!! In honour of my Mother that passed on to glory, my jersey number will be her year of birth till the end of my pro-career.
”I will never forget the boots and kits you bought for me and all the times you drove me for training even when it was not convenient for you. You did so many things to help me become a pro! I will always love you Mom Theresia Baggenstos-Osigwe 1958 – 2008 R.I.P.”
