New arrival at RS Charleroi of Belgium, Victor Osimhen has enthused that the loan deal that takes him to the Belgian club from VfL Wolfsburg of Germany will help him finally kick start his once promising career than has been fluttering all along.
Since wowing the watching world by emerging eternal top scorer of the Cadet Mundial at Chile 2015, Osimhen has failed to step up from the shadows at Wolfsburg, but the vibrant striker has now taken his first step out of Germany.
Osimhen joined Wolfsburg in January 2017 but had limited playing time, featuring in just 16 times and starting just three of those games, without a single goal to show.
His contract with Wolfsburg will run out at the end of the 2019-2020 season, but they will now share his salary with Charleroi, who currently occupy 11th position in the standings of the Belgian top flight after four rounds in the season.
The 19-year-old was top scorer of the 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup, after netting ten goals in seven matches, which helped the Golden Eaglets win the cup for a record extending fifth time in history.
The deal at Charleroi comes after Osimhen was touted with a loan deal at Pyramids FC of Egypt, following failed attempts to switch over to two other Belgian clubs, Zulte-Waregem and Club Brugge.
The setting has now left Osimhen excited and very grateful, as he says the single year loan deal at Charleroi is a huge welcome relief for him
He wants to hit the ground running and aim for a permanent contract, as Charleroi have the option to sign him for a fee of around €3.5m.
“I’m very happy and elated about this move because I can now settle down and begin to enjoy football once again,” Osimhen stated.
