Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen made his debut for Galatasaray in a 5-0 victory over Rizespor in the Turkish Super Lig but was unlucky not to find the back of the net.
Osimhen, who joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan from Napoli, was included in the starting lineup at Rams Park.
The stadium was packed as fans eagerly awaited their new star’s first appearance.
Galatasaray took control early, with Davinson Sanchez opening the scoring just three minutes in.
The Nigerian international came close to adding a second in the 15th minute but saw his header narrowly miss the target.
He met a cross from a set piece with a fine header and the ball appeared to be headed for the net.
However, Abdulkerim Bardakci of Galatasaray got a foot to it just before it did, and as a result, Osimhen was given the assist and Bardakci was given the goal.
The Super Lig champions continued their dominance, with goals from Gabriel Sara, Dries Mertens, and Kaan Ayhan completing the 5-0 rout.
Osimhen had seven attempts on goal but couldn’t break through, and he will be looking for his first goal in Galatasaray’s next match against Gaziantep.
