Osimhen Left Out in Eguavoen’s Squad List for AFCON Qualifiers

Date:

Super Eagles head coach, Augustine Eguavoen has left out Galatasaray’s loan striker, Victor Osimhen, from the squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifiers against Libya due to injury.

In his place, Bright Osayi-Samuel and Chidera Ejuke make their return to the team.

Eguavoen names his 23-man squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Libya.

Ejuke returns after nearly two years of absence and has been in top form for Sevilla, leading the European charts for most completed dribbles this season.

Osayi-Samuel also re-joins the squad after missing out on the September fixtures against Benin Republic and Rwanda.

In addition to Osimhen, Olisa Ndah will miss the upcoming fixtures due to injuries.

Nigeria will face Libya twice in October, first hosting the Mediterranean Knights at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on October 11, before traveling to Benghazi for the second leg on October 15.

Players are expected to report to camp in Uyo by Monday, October 7.
