Osimhen Tamed as Barcelona Ends Napoli’s UCL Dream

Date:

Victor Osimhen failed to shine as Napoli’s hopes were dashed in the UEFA Champions League, succumbing to a 3-1 defeat against Barcelona.

The Blaugurana secured their spot in the quarter-finals with a 4-2 aggregate victory over Napoli.

Osimhen, despite a full 90-minute stint, managed only a single shot on goal in the intense showdown.

Barcelona took control early on, with Fermin Martin breaking the deadlock in the 15th minute, capitalizing on a swift counter-attack.

Two minutes later, Joao Cancelo extended the lead, leaving Napoli with an uphill battle.

However, Napoli halved the deficit through Amir Rrahmani pulling one back with a well-timed strike in the 30th minute, courtesy of Matteo Politano’s assist.

The Italian side’s comeback hopes were dashed when Robert Lewandowski sealed the victory for Barcelona with a goal in the 83rd minute, securing their progression to the next round of the competition.

With Napoli’s Champions League journey ended, attention now turns to their domestic league campaign.
