National team Coordinator, Patrick Pascal has blamed lack of quality in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) as the major reason why home based players are finding it difficult to break into the national team under Coach Gernot Rohr.
He assured that there won’t be problems discovering talents from the domestic league going forward.
“There are standards to follow before inviting players to the national camp. We must be wary of these if there should be progress.”
“No bias or sentimental attachments. I don’t think we should always criticise Gernot Rohr for the omission of those at the domestic scene. He is in charge of the team and won’t want to exclude quality players if he sees them,” Pascal told Footballlive.ng.
“In as much as most of want NPFL players to be invited to the Super Eagles team, we must look at the quality of players.”
“Lack of quality is the major bane of our league. I think we all need to do more for the players to be included in the Super Eagles roster.”
“Some of the players are not mentally ready to challenge for spots in the senior national team.”
