Super Eagles team coordinator, Patrick Pascal has urged Nigerian soccer fans to refrain from blaming new first choice goalkeeper, Francis Odinaka Uzoho for Wednesday’s loss to Cech Republic, as he believes the Spain-based lad gave his best during the game.
Pascal, who was part of Nigeria’s Olympic Games gold medal winning team at Atlanta ’96, said it should be noted that Uzoho has developed rapidly since his debut on November 14 against Argentina, and further argued that the keeper has made vital saves in five straight matches.
The former Shooting Stars of Ibadan and Wikki Tourist of Bauchi defender said setting a new World Cup record is paramount for the Eagles at Russia 2018, hence the dedication being shown by all the players.
Pascal says it is the biggest motivation for the Eagles, who swill make a sixth appearance in the tournament.
He said: “No Nigerian team has managed to progress beyond the round of 16, and that is the situation I am optimistic this side upset.
“The players must consider representing the country at the Mundial as a privilege and they should set high standards for themselves.”
