Former Sporting Lagos head coach, Paul Offor, has shed light on the reasons behind his recent dismissal. Despite the team’s promotion success, Offor’s tenure was cut short due to issues with their away game performances.
“Shola [Akinlade] made it very clear what he wanted to achieve this season after we gained promotion,” Offor said. “He wanted to try as much as possible to get to the continent. When we couldn’t win games away, he made it clear that winning at home and losing away was not acceptable.”
Paul Offor acknowledged the club owner’s ambitions and decision-making authority. “He owns the club, he makes his decision, and I don’t think I have any other parts in that. That’s the most I can say about that. That’s the most I know about that.”
Sporting Lagos is at the brink of relegation after suffering a 1-2 defeat to Plateau United on Wednesday at the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium, Lagos.
