Paul Offor Threads With Caution Despite Big Win, Sounds Note of Warning To Players

Date:

Sporting Lagos head coach, Paul Offor has warned that the 4-1 scoreline the team recorded against Remo Stars can not happen all the time, suggesting that fans should reduce their expectations as a result of the flattering scoreline.

“Four goals against Remo Stars, that’s massive. Definitely we want to score. See, these players come to this match every day. We come here every day wanting to score, wanting to win. But football cannot happen like this every day. Some days we need to grind out a 1-0 victory, some days it has to be 2-1. So we have to take it as it comes. The most important thing is three points and we didn’t come into this game planning to score four goals.”

“We came just for the three points and we got it. And the extra quality gave us the opportunity for us to be able to get the four goals.”

He also sounded a note of warning to the rest of the players in the team to give their all as those who started the game did and that the standard at which they played in their win against Remo Stars would be benchmark going forward

“And it also sends message across the team for everybody to know. The people that are not playing, that didn’t play, should know that the qualities that played raised the bar. So if you want to come back into the team, you have to work, you have to be ready to give more than what they did.”
