Former Super Eagles international, Peter Rufai has maintained that there will be no cause for alarm if goalkeeper Francis Uzoho starts in goal for the Super Eagles in their quarter-final game against Angola on Friday.
In a chat with Brila FM on ‘No Holds Barred With Ifeanyi Udeze’ “Dodo Mayana” noted that the introduction of Stanley Nwabali into the team has brought about calm to the backline but that the Super Eagles defence has been good and that would give whoever will be tasked to be in goal for the game against Angola.
“The defence has very been good, starting from Zaidu, move to the right to Aina, or from Aina, move to Ajayi, move to Troost-EKong, move to Kenneth, they have been very solid, there have been two forms of defence since the beginning of the competition. They have shown cohesion, and that cohesion has helped the goalkeeper.”
“Me I don’t see any cause for alarm but I will pray that Stanley Nwabali comes in because he has the charisma and he has a way of flowing with his defence line and that is where I like the performance Stanley Nwabali puts up. But if he does not come in, that defence will still be solid, so it is just for whosoever will come on to capitalize on on that day.”
It is still yet to be seen if Stanley Nwabali would make it in time to be fit for the game as head coach Jose Peseiro has kept mum on the availability of the Chippa United goalie even as the body language in camp suggest thathe could be good enough to start the game.
